How blessed we were with the perfect weather conditions and perfect backdrop of Ashton Court for our annual Primary Cross Country Competition! Record number of children lined up at the starting line for the years 3 & 4, years 5 and years 6 races. Although urged to pace themselves for the race ahead, the excited youngsters set off after the Ashton Park ‘hares’ at full speed before settling down to run their own race.
Support from parents and fellow runners was fantastic and all runners were cheered as they crossed the line.

The results were less important than the positive comments we heard from the runners about enjoying the experience and the feeling of achievement.
To organise such a big event as this involves a team effort. A big thank you to all the wonderful leaders at Ashton Park School, the dedicated PE staff and members of the Bristol & West Running Club who so willingly gave their free time to assist and support.

Well done to all the hundreds of runners who took part! We look forward to perfect weather conditions again when Ashton Park will host the Inter-Area Primary Cross Country event on Saturday 23rd November.
