Record Numbers of Young Runners!!

Bristol Schools Primary Cross Country Championships

An unprecedented 650 young runners from 35 primary schools across Bristol turned up to compete in this event held at Ashton Park School on 16th October and organized by the Ashton Park School Sport Partnership and Bristol and West Athletics Club. The event also saw a record number of parents supporting.

Cherry Kraus development manager for the Partnership who organized the event said “What a great turn out. It’s great to see so many children excited about running for their school team. Many just want to get round and prove they can do it, whilst some are going all out win medals. Is it is really encouraging that many primary schools have started running clubs as a result of preparation for this event. Children from Cheddar Grove Primary School are here all proudly sporting their school club t-shirts staff included.

As ever all credit to the teachers who have given up their time to organize and accompany the children.”

Keith Brackstone from Bristol & West Athletics Club helped set the course, keen to encourage youngsters to take up club athletics.
