More than 270 pupils from schools in our School Sport Partnership and beyond descended on Oasis John Williams on the evenings of Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th June to wow a full house with a variety of dance styles and genres. The excellent standard of performance demonstrated by all pupils from year 1 to year 13 reflects the amount of dance support and mentoring the partnership has offered throughout the year.

The year 2 pupils from New Oak performed for the first time, delighting the audience with their rendition of ‘Shake your tail feather’. We were entertained by novice street dancers from Luckwell School and more experienced street and hip hop performances by the older pupils from St Bernadette and Bedminster Down. Ashton Park Students excelled themselves with polished dances from year 8 Hardy’s girls, and year 12 and 13 BTEC students. Afra, Elena and Santi, year 7 pupils, gave a very moving performance incorporating dance and gymnastic elements.

We were also treated to unique performances from Ashton Gate, Headley Park,St Mary Redcliffe, Four Acres, St Peters, Parson Street and Bridge Farm. Our 4 Partnership Dance Companies, Fizzle, Ignite, Fusion and Synchronicity led by Kate Wassal, a year 13 student from Ashton Park School and other experienced dance teachers, were all professional in their entertaining performances.

We were delighted this year to welcome ‘Activate’ to the Dance Fest. The adults proved that one is never too old to enjoy dance and hopefully inspired some members of the audience to dust off their dancing shoes!

A big thank you to all performers for putting on a great show!
