Making All the Right Moves!!

The SSP Dance programme is on the up!

This week saw the first sessions begin for this year's primary dance groups in the Ashton Park Dance Studio.

Sixth former Kate Wassell, now an experienced young choreographer is taking 'Synchronicity' - yr 5/6 & 'Ignite' - yr 3/4 through their paces on Tuesdays & Wednesdays respectively, whilst Claire Bowden is overseeing our KS1 group 'Fizzle' on a Thursday. There are currently 60 young dancers involved from across 9 of our partner primary schools, so also a great opportunity for like-minded young people to make new friends.

We also have the first session of a further yr 5/6 group beginning next Thursday 29th November at St. Bernadette School, led by Michelle Rochester. Currently, pupils are signed up from 4 different primary schools.

All our groups will work towards a dance to perform at 'Stages 2013,' in March, as well as our own partnership Dance Fest in June.

We also have some of our sixth form 'Dance Leaders' going into local schools to help with dance. Daisy Roddick, Kerry Maynard & Rebecca Kane are all currently working with a group at Parson Street Primary. They are loving it and are very professional in their approach which is what we expect of all our young leaders. This type of experience is a real positive on a UCAS or job application.
