Cotham Park Tag Rugby

Cotham Park Tag Rugby festival

The sun was shining, the players trying, the parents cheering and the young leaders inspiring, all at our Tag Rugby Festival on Tuesday 6th March at Cotham Park Rugby Club.

11 teams from Luckwell, Ashton Gate, Ashton Vale, Hotwells and Christchurch Schools entered and more than 100 pupils frorm years 3&4 and 5&6 enjoyed playing in beautiful dry spring conditions.

It was wonderful to have so much parental support on the touch line and coaches and referees from Cotham Park Rugby club gave of their free time to help the youngsters enjoy the occasion. They remarked on the high quality of play and commented on how the standard has really improved. This is largely due to the Rugby programme the School Sport Partnership offers the Primary schools and the practise they have received whilst competing in the World Rugby Cup Tournament.

12 sports leaders from Ashton Park School did a tremendous job as team managers, score keepers and photographers to make the festival run smoothly. They displayed excellent leadership skills and formed a great rapport with the children. Several of them were brave enough to referee and proved to be real naturals.

Congratulations to Christchurch School for winning the Yrs 3& 4 tournament with Ashton Gate as runners up and to Luckwell for winning the Yrs 5&6 tournament with Christchurch as runners up. They will represent our cluster at their next round in the Tag to Twickenham Tournament and we wish them the best of luck.
