Course Details: The course is Module 1 of the ASA Certificate for Teaching School Swimming (Key Stages 1 and 2). Once qualified the holder will be equipped to undertake or support the teaching of a range of core aquatic skills to a small group of similar ability within the context of a school swimming programme. For this course an attendance certificate as well as a set of TOPs cards will be issued.
The day will be a mixture of presentation, group work, discussion, practical demonstrations and delivery set in the classroom, in the pool, and with poolside teaching.
Dress code is casual and comfortable, suitable for working on the poolside. Swimming kit will be needed for the pool sessions – these will be some practices that are normally used with non swimmers and beginners, so candidates do not need to be accomplished swimmers.
