Teaching Swimming in Primary Schools Mod 2

Course Details: This course is Module 2 of the ASA Certificate for Teaching School Swimming (Key Stages 1 and 2) and is for holders of the Module 1 certificate. This further qualification equips you to plan and evaluate a swimming programme designed to meet the requirements of the National Curriculum and to teach a range of skills to groups of pupils within that programme without the overall supervision of a swimming teacher/instructor. The certificate will be issued on successful completion of the course.

The course requires nine hours tuition over a day and a half .There will be a mixture of presentation, group work, discussion, practical demonstrations and delivery set in the classroom, in the pool, and with poolside teaching.

Dress code is casual and comfortable, suitable for working on the poolside. Swimming kit will be needed for the pool sessions – these will be some practices that are normally used with non swimmers and beginners, so candidates do not need to be accomplished swimmers.
