Gymnastics Learning Festival a resounding Success!

Year 3 pupils from Southville, Hotwells and Ashton Vale School walked over to Ashton Park School to enjoy a fun morning of learning new gymnastics skills and agilities. This was an opportunity for their class teachers to receive some non threatening, informative CPD and take some new ideas back to their curriculum lessons in school.

Some of the year 10 Ashton Park sports leaders volunteered to help out and they soon got stuck in with demonstrating cups, saucers, sky divers etc and leading warm ups with their group. The teachers were asked to lead certain parts of the morning and did so with enthusiasm.

All teachers confirmed that they now felt more confident in their approach to teaching gymnastics and would be using the useful resources in the future. The parents who helped supervise the youngsters were full of praise for the confident and able year 10 pupils and were amazed how well behaved a group of 120 pupils can be en masse! I was certainly impressed by how hard the pupils worked and listened during the morning. The partner sequences accompanied by music were performed with pride and it was evident that the children had learnt many new agilities.
